Assessment in E-Learning Netiquette Suggestions:

Creating our own netiquette guidelines will be based on 'personal experience.' Post an important guideline and be sure to post your initials behind your statement with colored font

UW Stout's recommendations for Discussion Board Etiquette:

Please add your suggestions below.  Be sure to add your initials in a colored font after your suggestion. (DKK)

  • Be careful with humor.  Often in text format and among a group of multi-cultural individuals, what might be considered 'humor' by you may be misinterpreted as rude or offensive by another classmate (DKK)
  • Do not write your message in all capital letters. It will be taken that you are shouting at someone. (JNH)
  • Change the subject line when you reply to a post. (AT)
  • Keep posts brief and on topic. (ST)
  • Visit the discussion board and post responses frequently. Do not wait until the end of the week to do all of your posting. (PS)
  • Be nice. Please refrain from using inappropriate language or hurtful comments. (WB)
  • Be supportive with comments, but maybe add a question to your review/comments that evokes an answer that could add value to the post. (HS)
  • Make sure you give constructive criticism, do not make the person feel uncomfortable about their work/post. (AM
  • Expand on comments with substance rather than replying with " I agree" or "that's a great comment."   (M.E.)

Joneta, please use the top tab titled 'edit,' click on it and then place your comments right under mine - instead of in this comment section. Thanks. ~ Datta Kaur
